Awesome Dishclothes

I bought a bunch of cotton yarn on sale and was looking for a quick project so I found some dishcloth patterns. I started out with the one on the right, called Double Bump. Then as I was searching and searching I came across the peace sign pattern. I thought it went well with the tie-dye-ish yarn colors so I cast on the Peace Washcloth. Both very easy wash/dish cloth patterns that look great in solid or patterned yarn. I even found a nice hippy to gift them too :-)

Kitchen Towel

Not the best pic, but I'm so happy with this I had to post ASAP! I followed this pattern and used my fav Lily Sugar 'n Cream in Potpourri Ombre on size 7 needles. It took one skein for the body of the towel and a little of a 2nd skein to complete the decreasing on the handle section. This is part of a Christmas gift and I need to make at least one more and then possibly matching dish clothes. Time is running out and I now realize I should've started knitting these gifts earlier!

Butterflly dishcloth

Finished this one up quick! I think it turned out pretty cool... I was a little worried about the pattern and the striping but it all landed in the right places. I found the pattern on ravelry and there is no website to link to so you need to be a ravelry member to view it.

I still have cotton yarn left so I'm trying to figure if there is enough to make another dishcloth. I did see a heart pattern I was interested in too, so maybe I'll try it and see...

Dishcloth

Quick knit! Used the same pattern as last, um... I don't remember, last year sometime when I made a dishcloth :-P Used a really nice beige with speckles of color. I wanted to use a less busy yarn so the knit showed off. I think this would actually be better used as a pot holder or for the table. It's a little large to wash dishes with... that's what the recepient of the first round dishcloth mentioned too. This one is also a gift and I'll be knitting up another one, more of an actual dishcloth, to round out the gift. Took me two nights, maybe 4 or 5 hours from start to finish.

A Little Lace Dishcloths

I found a pattern similar to my final product, however it was too large for what I wanted and didn't have definative direction. So, I essentially created a pattern to match what I had in mind. Using a 56.7g ball of Sugar 'n Cream by Lily I've gotten two of these dishcloths and probably have at least one if not two more in it.

Using the Lily brand Sugar 'n Cream 56.7g I've finished two dishcloths and it looks like I might get a third one out of it! I altered the pattern a bit to give it a thicker pattern around the edge.

Dishcloths for Christmas gifts

I have some relatives I see once a year that I am a bit obligated to get gifts for at Christmastime. Being on the road, my thoughts went to local items, as I was looking I came upon the idea of soaps... that led to the idea of making dishcloths to go with those soaps.

Since knitting is cheaper and more fun that shopping for people I hardly know, I quickly started planning the dishcloths, the soaps will have to wait. First, I picked up some "Sugar 'n Cream" yarn at Michael's, one skein in "Green Twists" and one in "Natural". The plan for the green is more christmas-y, perhaps a tree. The natural will be a bit more everyday.

I searched and searched for a tree pattern, and finally found it! I had almost given up and decided I might have to just figure one out myself, and this one is better than I would have thought up.

I am about to cast on for the tree dishcloths, will then search for a pattern to use with the natural. I hope to come up with a total of four out of the two skeins I bought. I'll keep you posted!

Dishcloths

I knitted up a few dishcloths from various patterns I found online, and one I made myself.

The first one I made was a Breast Cancer Awareness, mostly it could be for any ribbon, depending on your yarn color. I found the pattern here: www.knittingknonsense.com/pinkribboncloth.html

Then I did a simple basketweave, which was a K5, P5 repeat for row 1, P5, K5 repeat on row 2 and back and forth. (Pictured below, right)

The last one I just did from memory of a shawl I'd knit which I thought would work well for a dishcloth. (Pictured above, left)
