Found some nice yarns at the thrift store the other day... I've looked there a couple times and usually they just have the really crafty looking acrylics but this time they had some nicer stuff. Two of the yarns are lightweight (maybe even lace weight?) in a light purple (without a tag) and a light green (with an old tag). Then a nice ball of a dark green mystery yarn. A bright green Red Heart sport weight (with tag). They had a bin full of what is probably crochet floss or something, but there was a white with gold that I thought might be nice so I grabbed that. Finally, I found 4 skeins of a red, black and white varigated yarn (some with tags) that had a UFO still attached!
Another day I was at the Barnes and Noble with the kids and found a great stitch book. It has over 500 stitch patterns! It's a little big for travel but great to start making up patterns at home. I also stopped into Michael's to see what was on sale. I found some bulky brown yarn (for a purse?) and a silky green yarn (perhaps a hat?) but not much on sale. I decided to check out the jewelry section to see if they had anything I could use to make knit jewelry. I found some thin wire, some hemp, and some beads. I finally stopped into my LYS too! I picked up a lovely purple & brown skein of a wool blend that I think will make a nice pair of socks for me. Also a big ol ball of yarn in black, grey's and white which will likely become a purse (or maybe two!).
Finally getting an amount of yarn I think qualifies as a stash! LOL
A place to keep track of my knitted masterpieces as well as share them with whoever cares.

Beach Yarn Shopping
Here I am on the road and out of yarn! I have a nice stash at home but underestimated my quickness and with a flight upcoming I needed some yarn!
I did a google map search for yarn shops near my hotel and found a couple but this one looked the most inviting and in my price range. I was not disappointed... The staff was friendly, there was a great selection, lots of knit items to get ideas from and a great range of prices. I had decided I wanted to knit a tank top and found a couple patterns on ravelry so I had an idea of what kind of yarn and how much. The staff also helped point me in the right direction and I ended up with 6 skeins of Berroco Touche at $5 a skein! What a deal! I could not pass up the nice bag with the store logo either... it is the perfect size, sturdy and not priced too bad either.
Now I'm off to search patterns a little more and then get started!

Shopping
I think Seattle and surrounding areas is the perfect place for knitting. There are soooo many shops! I started my experience at Bad Woman Yarn where I found the yarn for the cabled purse. I also ended up back there to get another skein as it ended up taking three, not two, and I had a time trying to find it elsewhere... like Great Yarns. They didn't have the exact kind I needed but it was nice to browse. The nicest so far has to be A New Yarn they have great deals and a purpose! We also tried Hilltop Yarn but weren't too impressed.
So, the yarn above was purchased at A New Yarn and does include the yarn for my aunt's scarf in the top right corner. It is made in Italy... pretty cool. All that pink yarn, I'm not sure what I'll do with, but I'm sure Yaya will be the recipient of at least some of it. The blues will be for the boys, the seaform and white, I'm not sure yet. I'd like to use the burgendy shade to try something in the round or with double points, which I also purchased at this store for a great deal as they were donated, like all the yarn.
Well, off to knit some more...
